Synthetic Virus
My very first (and likely last) Furcadia skin; go me.
Simple & Clean was made because to be perfectly honest I can’t stand the default Furcadia skins; they’re huge and clunky and full of wasted space. Pretty much coming as advertised on the box, S&C gives over the vast majority of its screen space to text, now with a variety of smooth, faux anti-aliased fonts care of Furc!Font. The obnoxiously cheerful baby blue colour is theoretically supposed to ‘match’ it to F!W.

Changelog
- Version 1.1: Changed the fonts to be a bit less ghetto. Verdana has been replaced by a remappable, Palito Linotype by a Windows render, and Lucida Sans Unicode by Century Gothic (also Windows rendered). Silkscreen remains the same. Hopefully the changes should make other people’s dreams look less stupid… unless they use Silkscreen, then you’re screwed.

Lovely!
Thank you! :)
You have a lovely site yourself. u_u
Hey skullkitty,
Maybe you can help me out here.
I’m not sure whether its my computer or not, but some text on Furc!Wank doesn’t show up. So I’m kinda guessing where certain hyperlinks are and stuff. Perhaps that’s just your post modernism showing or a deeper sense of spite which makes you want to get back at all wankers by making them click randomly at different parts of the screen for a while before they find where the “Submit Comment” link is :D. Apart from that, I really enjoy it.
And with your skin, it is most lovely, but I hope you’ll let me make one criticism. Your Furcadia options where it has things like “Text, Miscellaneous” etc is where my irritation comes from. Well after using the skin for a couple of days, looking at the white font on the light blue I’m finding difficult. Perhaps its just my perfectionism coming out in me, and I somehow feel that “No! White doesn’t go with light blue! It must be either indigo or nothing” Or whether I have a deficiency in my eyes that make it difficult for me to look at the two melding colours.
Hey, maybe I’m just a weird Australian freak or something but yeah. Apart from that, it’s a really nice, simple, clean design and you deserve muchy kudos.
Cheers,
James.
#1. It’s your monitor. Yes, the text is light. No, I have no trouble seeing it on any machine I view this site on (my home PC, my OSX laptop, my work PC). Buy a new monitor, learn to adjust your settings, override the CSS with your own, stop using IE, stop visiting the site… I don’t much care. And before you ask, I have terrible vision.
#2. This might shock you, but I don’t actually care what people think of my skin (or in fact just about anything that I do). If you like it; that’s great! Here it is for you to use and enjoy. If you don’t like it, then either change the bits you don’t like and make a new release (which you are more than welcome to do under the licence), or don’t use it. Easy. Your ‘perfectionism’ makes you think you can do better? Then by all means you are certainly welcome to try. Hell, I’ll even link to the finished product. But are you so special or valued to me that I’m going to make changes just for you? I doubt it.
#3. I too am Australian. It doesn’t mean jack shit.
Wow…pissy :D
You’re Australian? I haven’t met an Australian on furc in Ages! And everyone is enjoys stereotypes right?
By the way, I don’t think I can do better, don’t know the first thing about how, and I think it would frustrate me to no end learning how. But thanks…I guess? Hey…if you don’t care so much…why did you just snap at me. I’m just being gentle man, not cynical or anything. And I didn’t at all think you were going to make changes for me. Just trying to give some input in case you ever want to change it, or make a new skin or anything…Thats all. Sorry?
Yeah, well…Have a good one mate.
Oh and I use Mozilla :)
You’ve come here — registered at our site, idled in our dream — in an obvious attempt to ingratiate yourself with us. It backfired, and now you’re trying to make yourself look like the good guy by calling me ‘mate’ and pretending that you’re just trying to be all soft and cuddly while I’m the Big Nasty Drama-Stirring Dream Reviewer Who Can’t Take Her Own Medicine (incidentally, since this whole site is built on that premise, nice way to point out the obvious).
Does that about sum it up?
Also, free tip: Using passive-aggressive little smiles in a cheap attempt to ’soften’ insults is the Number One Way to make us all think you’re an idiot. No-one falls for it.
Again, I’m not trying to be a dick or anything. Sorry if I come off that way. I do enjoy your reviews and stuff, and thats why I registered at your site and checked out your dream (I have no idea how to get into the secret room…tried for too long) before I went to church. Now I can pretty much guess your going to hack away at me for even mentioning that I went to church, but I just wanted you to know that I’m not about stirring things up at all, though I do enjoy your retorts quite a bit, quite witty. Whatever, you’re going to be just as cynical and witty to me now, so I don’t know why I bother, just don’t like leaving things badly I guess.
And thanks for the free tip, I’ll think about it next time I insult you. In the mean time.

That was probably a bad idea on my part…
James!
Wow. Way to go. You’re really winning this one here. (Oh, but you’re “not trying to”, right? Will we hear about that in your response?) How about you pull out more totally unrelated things (which you seem very, very insecure about by the way) in the attempt to save face?
Also this:
versus this:
are not terribly convincing either. Are you really reading what you’re typing?
No I don’t read what I type…
Thankyou for the skin skullkitty.
James.
May I ask how to install this on mFurc? Thanks~
Hey there,
I’ve noticed that some people are having trouble with this skin because furcadia has changed how many shapes should be in the default button files. I updated these files for a friend of mine this morning, and to save anyone else the trouble of figuring out which buttons are causing the bug, I’ve gone ahead and put it on my site - although the only link to get it is here. It’s way too much trouble for skin artists to have to keep updating everything they do for each update, anyway.
If anyone has been experiencing trouble with this skin, the updated files are here: http://www.pixelovely.com/resources/simpleupdate.zip
Just replace the old buttons.fsh that came with the original download on this page with the new buttons.fox, and the old skin.ini with the new skin.ini. Everything else should remain exactly the same as in the original download at the top of this page.
Hope this is helpful! Don’t mean to step on any toes.
Thank you, that’s great! I’ve been meaning to update this skin for a billionty years but haven’t really had the time or inclination since I don’t play Furc any more.
Do you mind if I roll your changes into the official download (with credit, of course)?
